To perform our ceremony, we wanted a person who would lend religious context and gravitas to the event. Instead, we got Andy's cousin, Dan. But Dan Bacon, in addition to being one of the funniest (and funnest) people we know, is also one of our favorite people. He is currently a teacher at a Lutheran preschool in San Diego, where he is molding the next generation into thoughtful, kind, socially conscious, rabid Phoenix Suns fans. We have been lucky enough to spend time with both Dan and his beautiful wife Liz, and we can't wait to see them again in July, to ask them what to expect from the first three months of marriage. Liz Bacon, also on our list of favorites, is working toward her PhD in experimental psychology at UCSD.
Andy's brother, Christian, has tolerated life with Andy for, well, his whole life. He was born 2.5 years after Andy, but he has since caught and passed his older brother in many measurable ways, including spatial intelligence, aesthetic sensibility, height, and beard-growing ability. He and Andy have shared so many life experiences--biking around France together, attending high school in New Zealand together, failing to beat Star Tropics on the Nintendo together, et cetera. He is the Wilbur to Andy's Orville, or, more appropriately, the Marky Mark to Andy's Donnie. Christian is an architect in America's favorite city, Seattle, Washington, where he resides with his awesome and wonderful girlfriend, Allison Plavecski.
The Maid of Honor.
On the dance floors of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Matt Ramsay is the Michael to Kate’s Janet. Birthed from the same woman’s womb, they share an unbelievable connection. Matt is a lover, a grinner, a beer pong winner, and an altogether amazing person. Kate and Matt were the truest of siblings growing up together--camping, canoeing, and making Fort Wayne the town that Ramsay wrecked (in a good way). Matty is full of LIFE and LOVE. He continues to reside on the mean streets of Fort Wayne, where he works in construction engineering. Attention single ladies: if you happen to run into Mr. Matthew Ramsay, please give him a hug and whisper sweet nothings into his ear.
Josh Shalek is Andy's closest friend and long time creative collaborator. He puts both of the Kittelson boys (and all Kittelson men, really, present and past) to shame in the facial hair category. Andy and Josh grew up together in Tucson, Arizona, where they spent countless hours co-writing stories, watching Mystery Science Theater 3000, ripping Charles Dickens a new one, swimming in the Shalek's pool, and generally trying to avoid the desert sun. Josh is now an artist in a place more dimly lit--Portland, Oregon--where he lives with his beautiful wife Adrianne.
Stephenie MacDonald and Kate have been BFFF for almost 20 years. The MacDonald and Ramsay households were pretty much interchangeable for the Ramsay/MacDonald children. Stephenie and Kate were inseparable as kids--enough for them to convince strangers they were twin sisters. Stephenie and Kate attended the same university for college. HOO HOO HOO HOOSIERS!! Stephenie is now a silicon dealer...for breast implants…not really; it’s for everything else you use. Silicon is ubiquitous! Stephe lives in Hoboken, New Jersey. LOVE LOVE LOVE her forever and always!!!
